New Insights and Developments in Multiple Sclerosis Therapy (Sept 16, 2009 - Atlanta, GA)
|
Details:
Program Description
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic and thus far incurable neurologic disorder of unknown etiology. Treatment currently relies on injectable disease-modifying drugs to reduce the frequency and severity of exacerbations and generally slow the natural course of the disease. However, research in MS is rapidly evolving, and alternatives to existing therapies may soon emerge. Clinical trials using novel monoclonal antibodies as well as oral compounds have demonstrated clinical efficacy and safety in patients with some forms of MS. This program will review existing MS therapies and their limitations, as well as the potential utility of newer agents.
