The Latest Research: What Every MS Practitioner Should Know (Aug 25, 2009 - Knoxville, TN)
|
Details:
Program Description
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is widely believed to be an autoimmune disorder that causes loss of myelin and nerve fiber, focal inflammation, and neurodegeneration. MS is chronic, unpredictable, and often debilitating. Disease activity usually precedes clinical symptoms, and continues even though the disease may appear to be in remission. Early treatment can help to slow disease progression and prevent irreversible neurologic damage. Advanced practice nurses and other nursing staff play an integral role in the comprehensive care of MS patients. This program offers a practical review of current MS treatments, including FDA-approved medications as well as promising drugs in clinical trials. Importantly, the latest clinical and operational research from major professional meetings will also be discussed, allowing for valuable updates to and implementation of best practices in MS management.
