Program Description

Multiple sclerosis (MS) and Parkinson’s disease (PD) are progressive disorders of the central nervous system for which there is no cure. Early and aggressive management is important in optimizing the quality of life of patients with either of these diseases. This educational program is intended to bring cutting-edge research presented nationally in 2009 to the local level, and to define the implications of this research in the management of MS and PD. Healthcare providers specializing in neurology will be able to incorporate the latest research findings into their local practice, supporting the highest level of evidence-based patient care.

Program Agenda (All locations)

Registration: 6:00 PM
Dinner: 6:30 PM
CME Presentation: 7:00 PM
Adjourn: 8:30 PM

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this CME activity, neurologists and neurology nurses will be able to:
  • Describe recent research findings in PD management, including those that demonstrate the potential for therapies to modify the disease course, reduce progression of nonmotor symptoms, and avoid adverse food and drug reactions
  • Explain the implications of the latest research findings in MS regarding autoimmune disease processes, newer imaging techniques, and potentially disease-modifying oral therapies

Funding

This program series has been made possible through an educational grant from TEVA Neuroscience.
